It's the year of the RAT. Could that make for any great illustration?

Absolutely. Take a look at this gem.

It's from British illustrator Warwick Goble, (1862-1943), from a book he illustrated with 40 comparable pieces, entitled "Green Willow and other Japanese Fairy Tales" in 1910. This piece is called "The Espousal of the Rat's Daughter". Don't miss the face up in the clouds. I recently found this image while researching Goble's work for an upcoming Dover collection.

Gorgeous. One of the things

Gorgeous. One of the things I've always most admired about old Chinese ink drawings is the way they just gently fade off into the negative space and let your eye fill in what it needs to. This piece does that really nicely as well.
